Australia Red Centre tours – Suggested Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrive Alice Springs
Meet your local guide who will introduce you to the attractions of ‘The Alice’. Visit the School of the Air and the Royal Flying Doctor Service for an insight into education and health care in remote outback Australia. This evening, you are hosted to a memorable dinner under the stars with a local personality who’ll share the secrets of damper making, boiling a ‘billy’, boomerang throwing and the outback night sky.

Day 2 – Alice Springs
Today you’ll take a walk through three desert habitats and experience the plants, animals and indigenous culture of the area. Visit the dramatic Simpsons Gap, the majestic Standley Chasm and enjoy a picnic lunch and billy tea in the West MacDonnell Ranges. Your evening is at leisure.

Day 3 – Alice Springs – Kings Canyon
Collect your 4WD Land Cruiser and begin your self-drive adventure through the spectacular and rugged West MacDonnell Ranges to Kings Canyon. The Mereenie Loop is the recommended route which takes you on unsealed roads through breathtaking outback landscapes.

Day 4 – Kings Canyon
Today is at leisure. You may like to venture into stunning Kings Canyon in the heart of Watarrka National Park. Its towering vertical walls and pockets of lush vegetation host an astonishing biodiversity. The famous 6km Rim Walk is a must and the views to the valley floor are breath-taking.

Day 5 – Kings Canyon – Uluru
This morning drive to Uluru, stopping en route at Curtin Springs, a legendary outback cattle station. Return your vehicle to Ayers Rock town centre before meeting your driver-guide for a private tour of the massive rock domes of Kata Tjuta. This evening before dinner enjoy the ‘Field of Light’ art installation with more than 50,000 lights creating paths as darkness falls over Uluru.

Day 6 – Uluru
Today enjoy the resort at your leisure. This afternoon ride a camel as you watch the sunset.

Day 7 – Depart Uluru
This morning watch dawn break over Uluru, Australia’s greatest natural icon. The gentle 10km walk around the base of the monolith is highly recommended before your private transfer to Ayers Rock airport.
