Day 01 – 4th November

On arrival, transfer to Galle and check in to your hotel and have the rest of the day to yourself to relax.

Transfer time: Approximately 3 hours

Day 02 – 5th November

Go on a tour of the infamous fort this evening.

The famous Tarshish of the Bible where King Solomon obtained gems and spices, this “Living” UNESCO World Heritage Site is the port where the Portuguese first landed in Sri Lanka in 1505. Captured and fortified by the Dutch who ruled maritime Sri Lanka in the 17th and 18th centuries, the city still retains the air of old Holland. Within the well preserved 90 acre fort and ramparts built in 1663 are old Dutch churches and monuments with armorial bearings, an imposing crested and monogrammed gateway dated 1669, many well preserved old Dutch houses and narrow alleys still bearing Dutch names.

Day 03 – Day 07 / 6th Nov to 10th Nov

The next five days will be spent spectating the first Series of test matches between Sri Lanka and England

Day 08- 11th Nov

After an early breakfast head down south towards Yala national Park. You will have a chance to spot the elusive leopards during your stay.
Transfer time: Approximately 4 hours

Check in to your hotel and enjoy the evening at leisure. The hotel has much to offer.

Day 09 – 12th Nov

Today after breakfast you will embark on an exciting Morning safari into the Yala National Park jeep safari.
This is Sri Lanka’s most known National Park is popular for Elephant, Leopard, Bear, Crocodile and Wild Boar. 97,800 hectares in extent, this is the second largest of Sri Lanka’s National Parks. Its open undulating terrain made it famous for elephants for many years, but recently the park has also received much fame through publicity by National Geographic and the Discovery TV channels, which focused on a leopard research/conservation and identification project. Claims have subsequently been made that Yala National Park has the world’s highest concentration of leopard per square kilometre.

Return to the hotel after the morning excursion to refresh. Your next destination is the tea country.

Transfer time: Approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes.

Day 10 – 13th Nov

Visit a tea plantation this morning with the resident planter who will take you on a tour through the factory where some of the best tea in the world is produced. You will be told all about the process of manufacturing tea and also gain first-hand experience on the manufacture of some of the best tea in world. If you’re lucky you may be invited to taste a cup of pure Ceylon tea which begins its journey as raw green leaves in the hills and ends up as a final golden-brown graded product which we all but know too well.
Spend the evening at leisure.

Day 11 – 14th Nov

Start your journey to Colombo via Kandy, slowly descending on windy roads through vast fields of tea.

Transfer time: Approximately 5 hours and 30 minutes.

Visit the sacred Temple of the Tooth that houses Sri Lanka’s all-important Buddhist relic – a tooth of the Buddha. Legend has it that the Buddha’s sacred tooth was snatched from his funeral pyre and smuggled into Sri Lanka during the 4th century. Since then, the tooth relic has been moved around Sri Lanka to protect it from foreign invaders – hence, the several ruined relic houses, dotted around Sri Lanka. It was always believed that whosoever had the custody of the sacred relic had the authority to rule Sri Lanka. Towards the end of the 16th century, the Tooth was brought to Kandy and the relic has remained here ever since.

Day 12- 15th Nov

Having reached the end of your tour you will be driven to the Bandaranaike International Airport from where you will continue onwards to your next destination.
