- Cruise itineraries also include the stunning waters of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. The True North repertoire in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea offers life changing experiences for all – from the well-travelled aficionado to the first-time adventurer eager to experience something different.
North Star Cruises’ ship, the True North, is 164 feet long with a seven-foot draft. The ship was purpose-built to sail deep into the very heart of wilderness areas that larger ships simply cannot access. The True North features 6 dedicated expeditions boats, a ship's helicopter, a sundeck, a forward observation lounge, a ship’s lounge, an alfresco bar and a sports deck. The ship’s biologist presents interpretative information on wall-mounted screens and, an internet café enables convenient communication with the outside world.
The ship’s modern Australian cuisine is supplemented with locally sourced ingredients and complemented by an outstanding selection of Australian wines. Signature dining includes freshly caught barramundi – a revered sport fish possibly caught by guests, Angus or delicate Wagyu beef, or exquisite Australian lamb.
All cruises are designed to allow guests opportunity to ‘experience the destination’ – daily activities include scenic walks, fishing, snorkelling, picnics, nature, diving, cultural events and spectacular flights in the ship’s helicopter. Itineraries specifically exclude lengthy periods at sea and feature frequent daily excursions. Multiple expedition vessels take guests away in small groups to experience wilderness up close and the luxury of numerous tenders also means that everybody on-board has greater chance to do what they want, when they want.
