Winter Sun Holidays for 2018 and 2019

winter sun holidays

Now is the perfect time to start thinking about Winter Sun holidays for 2018 and 2019. Here are some Pope&Sons suggestions:

Cambodia Winter Sun

Cambodia is a great destination for all round travel and the dry season runs from October to April. We would recommend a few days in Siem Reap at Belmond La Residence d’Angkor so you can visit Angkor Wat and then scoot over to Song Saa private island for a few days of blissful relaxation. Australia Winter Sun

Australia is of course one of the most popular Winter sun holidays and there is an amazing choice of luxury tours and experiences to choose from. Take a look at our iconic three centre luxury holiday to Australia which visits the Great Barrier Reef, Sydney and Uluru and can be taken all year round but especially over the UK winter time.

Cape Town Winter Sun

Cape Town and South-Africa is a great destination to get away form the UK Winter and it’s on the same time zone too. And while you are there why not visit the amazing winelands area. The average temperature for January is around 22°C and is perfect for swimming at the beaches near Cape Town. The waters are warm enough for swimming, wading or even learning to surf. The average sea temperature for the month of January is a warm 20°C.

Malaysia Winter Sun

Dave Pope’s favourite hotel is on the Malaysia island of Langkawi. The Datai Hotel is his top tip for a Winter sun holiday combined with a few days in either Singapore or Kuala Lumpur. If you travel to Langkawi between November and April, you will get a great balance of sunshine and light rainfall with a daytime temperature of 30-35c. And the hotel has just completed a very comprehensive refurbishment so it’s even better.

Antigua Winter Sun

Our final top tip for Winter sun holidays is Antigua and this beautiful villa in Turtle Bay With an average day-time temperature of around 28c, Antigua is less humid and drier than other Caribbean islands which makes it much more enjoyable.

Antigua is a Caribbean resort with genuine West Indian hospitality. Just go there!

  1. Antigua would be most welcome right now! Such a perfect winter sun holiday with some of the best beaches in the Caribbean. Last time I was there spent many an afternoon just watching the humming birds from my verandah whilst sipping on a cold rum punch. I would definitely recommend Antigua for a winter sun holiday especially at the luxurious Carlisle Bay. Take me back now I want to escape winter!

  2. Given the bitterly cold weather that has hit the UK in the last couple of days, I am even more motivated to book a trip and travel in search of some winter sun! I agree with Dave that The Datai is one of the best hotels in the world and he has booked me some great holidays. Thailand is next, but I have to say that the Caribbean is looking tempting. Carlisle Bay may have to go on the bucket list! A trip to the Arctic could also be on the cards – I’ve always wanted to see The Northern Lights. Dave – let’s talk when you are back from your UK mini-break… Cheers, Terry
