What to do in Rio de Janeiro
If you are looking for what to do in Rio de Janeiro then the new “Museu do Amanhã” (Museum of Tomorrow) has finally been opened, after 5 years of construction. The spectacular and futuristic architecture has been designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, who got inspired by bromeliads from Rio’s Botanical Gardens. Situated in the Guanabara Bay on a total of 15.000 m² it was built focusing on sustainability, including 4500 solar panels and a cooling system which taps deep water from the Guanabara Bay. Most of the main exhibitions are digital, with a focus on ideas rather than objects so visitors can imagine a sustainable world and see how their choices and activities will influence the future.
